    Oil and gold are considered to be the most two strategic commodities. Crude oil is the world’s most frequently transacted commodity while gold has a leading position among the main precious metals. This thesis examines empirically the relationship between gold prices, oil prices and US dollar index. Monthly data for gold prices, oil prices, US dollar index and other controlled variables over a period of 20 years were selected from Bloomberg platform.     After the financial crisis of 2008, the Basel committee on Banking Supervision announced the Basel III reforms that can increase the quantity, quality, consistency, and transparency of a bank’s capital.     Public transit is considered nowadays a basic mobility service helping people reach their destinations. However the absence of optimized public transport services in Lebanon and the increased dependency on private cars by the Lebanese are the major concerns of this research study.
