Abstract:
I have been practicing modern singing for five years, pondering the enhancement of my interpretation by applying the techniques I have learned in my classical singing training sessions.
My five years of vocal ‘Bel Canto’ lessons allowed my voice to develop and prosper in opera singing. My interest was how and when to use these techniques in modern singing for a better performance and to encourage other singers to consider this essay and to profit from its benefits. The research on the subject encouraged me to develop a master’s thesis. Therefore, the first chapter is devoted to a general introduction, where I state the purpose of my study and the problems I face while singing.
The second chapter includes the literature review, where previous researches that support my arguments are presented. I complete this chapter with the research questions that I have asked while searching for the arguments. However, my hypothesis: The ‘Bel Canto’ technique is beneficial in modern singing, is stated in chapter three.
Thus, after studying the ‘Bel Canto’ techniques, I found that some can be advantageous for a healthy modern performance. In addition, I stated an anti-hypothesis to mention the different things that disagreed with my hypothesis, talking about the disadvantages of studying the ‘Bel Canto’ techniques as basic techniques for a modern performance.
