    Geometric measure theory was developed in the second half of the 20th century to manipulate the structure and regularity questions in the calculus of variations. The main goal of this thesis is to introduce the theory of " rectifiability of sets". Rectifiable sets are considered smooth in a certain measure theoretic sense. Rectifiable sets are basic concepts in geometric measure theory. Their theory began with the study and determination of length, area or volume of sets in Euclidean space.     In this thesis, we have restudied a sample chosen by (Lusso & Risaliti, 2016) consisting of a set of 2,153 unique quasars given by two source catalogues: 3XMM-DR5 (Rosen et al., 2016) and DR7 catalogue (Shen et al., 2011).     Exoplanets are planets orbiting stars other than our Sun. During their motion around their star, due to gravitational effects, and due to the planet’s thermal and reflective radiation, small variations in the lightcurve could be detected (Esteves et al. 2015). Phasecurves are small-scale variations in planetary flux that arise from an exoplanet’s motion around its host star. In this thesis, we have implemented a deep neural network architecture to automatically recognize CAPTCHAs.     The aim of this thesis is to study the impact of a three-year-study of computer science at Notre Dame University on the students’ academic performances. For this reason, the GPAs of the students after their first year of study were compared with their GPAs upon graduation. To perform this, a Decision Tree, as well as Neural Networks were used.     The main objective of this work is to find a more straightforward method for estimating the parameters of an equally spaced discrete autoregressive process by using maximum likelihood estimation (MLE) considering it is challenging to obtain the parameters of a nonlinear optimization procedure. The resulting estimated values are tested through simulation and then compared with those obtained using the previous MLE and Yule-Walker estimation.
